Spain just handed businesses a 12-month lifeline on Verifactu compliance but don’t let relief turn into a dangerous trap.

After months of deadline panic, Hacienda postponed invoice verification requirements until January 2027 for companies (July 2027 for autónomos).

This came after real pressure from business groups and political negotiation, not just a quiet policy shift.

Don’t let relief breed complacency.

I'm already seeing companies mentally file this under "future problem." That's the exact mistake that'll have you scrambling in December 2026. You won't get another extension.

The fraud legislation hasn't changed.

The underlying requirements are still coming. Factura electrónica obligations remain. You've bought time to implement properly, not permission to ignore it.

Companies that succeeded in past compliance crunches weren't the ones who moved fastest at the deadline. They were the ones who used early warnings to build lasting systems. You just got 12 months most businesses would kill for.

The question is whether you'll look back in January 2027 with relief or regret.

What is your first step to prepare?
